Is Beginner Boot Camp a pre-requisite to Boot Camp?
No, you do not have to have taken our 4-week Beginner Boot Camp before! We strive to offer different classes for different needs and ability levels. If you're fit and ready, join us at our regular class. If you need a slower-paced class, please join our Beginner Boot Camp Class!

Where is the best place to purchase a pilates/fitness mat?
We suggest purchasing a "Reebok" mat from Target. They have the most cushion and will allow you to push through and finish that last set!

Where is the best place to purchase a Polar heart rate monitor?
We suggest going to any sporting store and ordering a Polar F6 or Polar F11. (Don't purchase the more basic Polar brand watch; it is cheap and won't give you as many options.) "Polar" is the Nike of heart rate monitors. Purchase an F6 or F11 that will run somewhere between $99 and $129, usually. This purchase will include the chest strap that goes around you during your workouts. It is a hefty purchase, but will make all the difference in the world in your workouts. Don't you want to know when to ease up and when to keep pushing forward?

How often do we lift weights at Texas Boot Camp?
All Boot Campers should expect a weight workout every single class! Bring a minimum of 5 lb. weights to every single workout, without exception. We get results quicker with heavier weights, so consider bringing 8's or 10's if you've been to a few 4-week sessions.

The deadline to sign up for the upcoming session is the Sunday night before the new session begins at 6 PM. This gives your instructors time to look over your health-care questionnaires, get their equipment and lesson plans together for the upcoming day/weeks, and get a great nights rest!

Does Texas Boot Camp offer personal training sessions or corporate training on-site?
Yes! We do offer personal training sessions to you in your home. You and the instructor of your choice will work out the times, dates, and frequency of sessions. Male trainers only train men, 1-on-1. And women instructors only do personals with other women.
For corporate training, our instructors will come to your place of work and give you and your co-workers workouts that will leave you wanting more!! But you don’t even have to be in a place of business to get a group together. Please call us to see about availability, pricing, and group requirements. Start the fun with your co-workers today!

Where do I go to get my running shoes?
Shoes are a very important part of boot camp! Shoes should be not older than 6 months - no matter how much tread is left on the bottom. Our shoes wear out on the insides, as well, and we need to give ourselves every opportunity to prevent injury. We recommend Luke’s Locker or Run On! as two excellent places to find a shoe that is just right for you, with qualified staff that will educate you in your shoe purchase.

What if I am late?
Don't let tardiness keep you from coming to class! Even a 30 or 35-minute class with Texas Boot Camp will be better than a 30 or 35-minute workout you would give yourself, guaranteed!

Will I be embarrassed?
Boot Campers will never be yelled at, but will be encouraged to do their best. We wouldn't want to embarrass anybody, ever! We apply the "Golden Rule" on this aspect of our Boot Camps. Our instructors encourage, empower, and uplift!!

What do we do if it rains or storms?
If it rains, we do our best to move inside a gymnasium or underneath a portico of some sort. Our situation depends on the location. Your instructor will always keep the group’s safety a first priority! While boot camp isn’t afraid of a little precipitation, Texas Boot Camp never operates outside whenever it is thundering and lightning. If there is inclement weather, watch the front page of the website (bottom right box) for any last minute location changes, etc.

If I have friends that want to join after a session has started, do they have to wait until the next session?
Please contact the lead instructor for your particular city, if you have questions. (This information can easily be found on the "Contact Us" tab of the homepage.)

What type of clothing is appropriate for classes?
Men and women should wear clothes that are breathable and pull sweat off the body. Stomachs may never be exposed. Women should wear supportive sports bras, and have their hair pulled back. Men and women should always have running shoes that are 6 months old, or newer. Many boot campers prefer to have weight-lifting gloves, in the event of ground work.

Should I eat before class?
The general rule is to eat two hours before coming to class. If you are sleeping two hours before your particular class starts, do not wake up to eat. If you are taking an early morning class, please eat 1 tablespoon of almond butter before class to "break the fast" your body's metabolism went into during sleep.

What should I do if I have an injury?
If you are injured, go see your doctor. This is a fitness program, and our staff is not licensed to diagnose or treat.

What equipment do we use at boot camp?
Your instructor will always have you guessing! Our most dependable piece of equipment is our own body and body weight! When you least expect it, your instructor will have versa loops, plyo steps, pugula sticks, medicine balls, kettle bells, therapy balls,… Expect the unexpected!

Why do we take a week off between 4-week sessions?
This is a chance for your body to recover and repair itself, and for you to anticipate the upcoming 4-week session. We still expect you to do your own workouts, but know you won't push yourself as hard as a boot camp class. One-week breaks also allow your instructor time to get more certifications and research the latest exercises, foods, and moves, so they can stay at the top of their game!
